Project description "Young Music Caravan - Europe 2004" Young musicians are on the move around Europe with their program combining European folk music, popular music and jazz.
Whether a Finno-Hungarian Tango, a Danish folk song in Jazz style or a wedding melody from the Kosovo, the young musicians use their European musical roots and traditions with creativity and sensibility. During the summer this year, young musicians coming from over twelve countries from Finland to Turkey will go on tour through Europe. A journey into the diversity of traditional and modern folklore with unconventional playful improvisation and groovy jazz.
This garland of multiethnic variety is made up of own cultural traditions that each of the musicians brings along. A successful fusion of traditional elements and popular music come into being and give us an insight into foreign cultures and an idea of intercultural artistic work. These different musical influences brought out with lightness and joy will overcome borders and spread the message of unity in Europe. Europe is growing together, the Young Music Caravan gives the Soundtrack for it.
This project gives young, cultural- interested people from whole Europe the possibility to get into contact with the (musical) culture of the "old" and the &qout;new" countries of the EU. The tour has been planned by a network of young European musicians. At Viljandi Folkfestival in Estonia, the Caravan will meet an Estonian music camp to work for two days on a united program. The project is supported by YOUTH FOR EUROPE, the youth network programme of the European Union. *
